Judith was born in Charleston, Illinois, and lived in several Midwestern states before settling in Northeast Indiana. She holds an A.B. degree from Indiana University and an M.A. degree in English from Purdue University.

She taught English composition for Purdue prior to 1977 when she joined the law firm of Husselman and Mefford as assistant to Kirk Carpenter (who went on to be judge of the DeKalb Circuit Court) and later became paralegal to Don Mefford.

Judith's duties include work related to estate planning and administration; school law; and corporate and banking law. In addition, she is Computer System Administrator and coordinates education and training of new employees on the computer.

Judith is active in the music and catechism programs at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Auburn.

Her outside interests include writing, reading, music, and fiber arts.
